Unlock Your Vehicle’s Data with the BIM-01-2 OBD-II Module

The BIM-01-2 OBD-II (J1850/CAN) Interface is your direct gateway to accessing vital engine and transmission data. By simply plugging this module into your vehicle’s diagnostic port, you can effortlessly extract information directly from your car’s computer, the ECM (Engine Control Module). This powerful Modulo Obd2 interface is designed to seamlessly transmit this collected data to Dakota Digital Instrument Systems, enhancing your vehicle monitoring capabilities.

With the BIM-01-2 OBD2 module, you can access a range of data points, depending on your vehicle’s compatibility:

Universally Available on Most Vehicles:

  • Speedometer: Accurate speed readings for optimal driving awareness.
  • Tachometer: Real-time engine RPM to monitor performance and prevent over-revving.
  • Engine Temperature: Keep a close eye on your engine’s coolant temperature to prevent overheating.
  • Check Engine Indicator: Access to your vehicle’s check engine light status for immediate diagnostics.

Vehicle-Specific Data (Availability Varies):

  • Intake Air Temperature: Monitor the temperature of the air entering your engine.
  • Transmission Temperature: Crucial for vehicles that are towing or under heavy load, helping to prevent transmission damage.
  • Ambient Air Temperature: External temperature readings.
  • Gear Position: Know exactly what gear your automatic transmission is in.
  • Oil Pressure: Essential for engine health monitoring, alerting you to potential lubrication issues.
  • Boost Pressure: For turbocharged vehicles, displaying turbocharger boost levels.

It’s important to note that while the BIM-01-2 OBD2 module is designed to access a wide array of data, the availability of certain parameters such as Intake Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, Oil Pressure, and Gear Position is contingent on your vehicle’s ECM and the presence of functional OEM sensors. Dakota Digital cannot guarantee the availability or accuracy of these vehicle-specific displays as it is dictated by the factory or aftermarket ECM configuration.

The BIM-01-2 is compatible with GRFX, RTX, HDX, VHX, and VFD3 Dakota Digital instrument systems that utilize a black plastic control module. For BIM-compatible control boxes equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack BIM input, the 394194 adaptor harness is required. Please be aware that older instrument systems with an aluminum control module are not compatible with BIM connectivity.

This OBD2 modulo interface supports J1850 and CAN OBD-II protocols, specifically SAE J1850 VPW, SAE J1850 PWM, and ISO 15765 CAN 500k 11 bit identifiers adhering to the SAE J1979 PID protocol.

If you have any concerns regarding the compatibility of the BIM-01-2 OBD2 module with your specific vehicle, we encourage you to contact our sales or technical support department for clarification before purchase.

Important Compatibility Note: GM Connect & Cruise packages may not transmit gear position data, which will prevent the BIM-01-2 from displaying this specific information.
