My New Ride: Diving into the 2015 Audi S5 Sportback Ownership Experience

Hello everyone! Excited to join this community and share my initial impressions of my recently acquired 2015 Audi S5 Sportback 3.0 V6 TFSI. As a first-time Audi owner, the experience has been genuinely enjoyable. I picked up this beauty earlier this year at a good price, especially considering it had only clocked around 25,000 miles with light use, mainly commuting to train stations just outside of London. It comes with a decent spec, including the standard Audi audio system from that era (not the best compared to some, but typical for Audi in 2015) and wonderfully comfortable leather sports seats. Overall, the interior is a very pleasant environment to be in.

The previous owner had given the 20-inch wheels a bit of curb rash, as you can see in the picture. Personally, I think 20s might be slightly too large; perhaps 19-inch wheels would be a better fit, and tire replacements are definitely pricey. I’m planning to get them professionally refurbished and then decide on the next steps. However, there’s no denying they make a statement. And the handling is superb. While some mention understeer with larger Quattro models, I find this car grips the road incredibly well, and I haven’t encountered any understeer yet. Maybe I need to push it harder!

The bodywork is in excellent condition, just a few minor stone chips here and there, and it’s equipped with the Black Edition styling package. The metallic black paint, while stunning, is a magnet for dust, tree sap, and road grime! Despite that, I absolutely love the Sportback silhouette and this specific generation of the model. It has a very purposeful and focused aesthetic.

Now, let’s talk about the engine. I’m completely in love with it. The supercharged V6 sound is simply addictive. The power delivery is smooth and linear across the entire rev range, and in Sport mode, the exhaust note becomes even more exhilarating, especially when accelerating for overtakes. In fact, I usually keep it in Sport mode, although the fuel consumption is something I try not to think about too much…

What are my plans for it? Firstly, it’s due for a full detailing session to address those stone chips. The brake pads could also use replacing soon. Then there are the wheels, which I might eventually swap out. I’m also considering exploring the potential gains from an ECU remap. From the factory, it was rated at 333 horsepower (333 PS) and 325 lb-ft of torque. A quick look at Revo suggests a Stage 1 remap could boost that to between 415 and 448 horsepower (415 PS to 448 PS) and 405 to 450 lb-ft of torque. This might require some attention to the gearbox as well.

Has anyone else here owned a 2015 Audi S5 Sportback? Or perhaps still does? I’d be keen to hear about your experiences!
