Kelvin van der Linde Embarks on a “New Adventure” in India
For Kelvin van der Linde, the Hyderabad E-Prix is only the third single-seater race in his burgeoning career, adding to the sense of anticipation. “I’ve never been to India before, so just traveling to this new culture is an adventure for me,” says the 26-year-old South African, highlighting the Cupra India experience beyond the racetrack.
His simulator experience echoes Müller’s positive sentiments about the track layout. “After my laps in the simulator, I can say that the track is great, but it will also be a big challenge.” Van der Linde has also studied onboard footage from other racing series that have competed at the venue, noting potential overtaking opportunities that could lead to a “spectacular race.”
Unlike the Diriyah races where van der Linde lacked track familiarity compared to many competitors, Hyderabad presents a level playing field. “It’s a track that no one in the paddock knows – so we’re all arriving on a level playing field,” he states, seeing this as an advantage for Cupra India and himself to learn and adapt quickly.

Biermaier also commends Kelvin van der Linde’s debut performance under pressure in Saudi Arabia. “We didn’t throw Kelvin into cold water in Saudi Arabia, but into icecold water – and yet he did a great job. Not only on the track, but also in his feedback and work with the engineers.
