OBD2 Bluetooth Adapter PIN Code: Pairing Guide for Car Scanner Apps

First, ensure you have an OBDII ELM327 Bluetooth adapter.

Plug the adapter into your car’s diagnostic socket (OBDII socket) and turn on the ignition or start the engine. If your adapter has a power button, press it.

Step #1: Pair Your Device with the OBD2 Adapter

If you’ve already paired your device, proceed to Step #2.

WARNING! Bluetooth pairing procedures can vary across Android versions.

Navigate to the Bluetooth settings on your Android device. Enable Bluetooth and wait for your adapter to appear in the device list.

The adapter is usually listed as “OBDII,” “obd2,” or a similar generic name. Branded adapters might use their brand name (e.g., “Viecar,” “VLink”). It will not be named after your car brand or something like “MY CAR.”

Tap on your adapter’s name to initiate pairing. You will be prompted to enter an Obd2 Bluetooth Pin Code.

If you are unsure of the PIN code, consult your adapter’s documentation. Common OBD2 Bluetooth PIN codes are “1234“, “0000“, “7890“, or “1111“. Try these common codes if you can’t find specific documentation.

Step #2: Select Your Adapter in the Car Scanner App

Open the Car Scanner app and access the Settings menu (gear icon, typically in the top-right corner).

Tap on the “Adapter” option (or “Connection” in older versions of the app).

Select “Bluetooth” as the Connection type.

Tap “Select device” to view the device selection screen.

Choose your adapter from the list.

That’s it! Your adapter is now selected. Return to the main screen and tap the large green “Connect” button.

In the future, simply press the “Connect” button to establish a connection.

Remember to power on your adapter if it has a power button before attempting to connect.
