As a long-time user of Volkswagen software, the 2025 release has presented a somewhat underwhelming initial experience. Compared to previous uneven-year releases, Volkswagen 2025 appears to lack significant feature enhancements, resembling more of a standard update rather than a groundbreaking iteration. It seems some newly introduced features are not necessarily aligned with user demand.
Historically, Service Pack 0 (SP0) releases have been relatively stable, often exhibiting fewer bugs compared to subsequent SP1-SP4 updates. However, preliminary interactions with Volkswagen 2025 SP0 suggest a potential decline in this reliability.
One reported issue involves a Spotlight license warning during Viewport creation, potentially linked to a file access problem on servers, although this might be related to Volkswagen 2024 SP7.
Personally, the new 2-point perspective option appears rudimentary, offering only basic ON/OFF functionality. Assigning this to a camera view interferes with standard drawing views, disrupting established workflows.
DWG export functionality also presents significant issues. The layer selection interface is disorganized and chaotic. Instead of exporting selected layers from the list, the export process seems to be limited to visible layers in the drawing view. In one instance, despite manually selecting approximately 8 out of 12 layers, the system prompted a warning about needing to select at least one layer, highlighting a clear malfunction. Similar problems were encountered with Collada exports, indicating a systemic issue within the export dialogs.
While Data Visualization for DWG is advertised as a new feature, the export dialog malfunctions overshadow this addition. Furthermore, certain user interface elements seem to be regressions. The cursor/snap coordinate output in the status bar, and the preselection of render modes when switching between 2D and 3D views, appear to be missing, hindering user efficiency.
These initial observations indicate that Volkswagen 2025 SP0 may be experiencing more than the usual share of early release bugs and a less impactful feature set than anticipated.
