ACAMS is dedicated to ensuring accessibility and providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities, in accordance with applicable local laws. We are committed to promptly advising anyone who requests accommodations about our accommodation process. If you have a disability as defined by local law and require accommodations, please reach out to our Accommodation Coordinator to obtain the necessary request form and detailed information.
The Accommodation Request Process
To initiate your request for disability accommodations, the first step is to contact our dedicated Disability Services.
Step 1: Contact Disability Services
You can reach the Disability Services Accommodation Coordinator through the following channels:
- Phone: +1 786 871 3062
- Email: [email protected]
- Fax: +1 866 494 0040
Step 2: Submit the Request Form and Documentation
Upon contacting the Accommodation Coordinator, you will be provided with an accommodation request form. This form will guide you in specifying your impairment and the particular accommodations you are requesting.
Along with the completed form, it’s essential to submit current certification and/or documentation from a qualified medical or educational professional. “Current” generally means within the last five years. This documentation should:
- (a) Provide a specific diagnosis of your disability.
- (b) Recommend specific accommodations that would be beneficial in the context of your request and setting, based on your diagnosis.
To ensure your request is correctly processed by ACAMS, please include your application number (e.g., CAMS099887766) when completing the form and submitting it to [email protected]. The Accommodation Coordinator will then get in touch with you to provide further guidance and information.
Step 3: Review and Implementation of Your Request
The Accommodation Coordinator will carefully evaluate your request and all supporting documentation. They may seek additional information or documentation if needed to fully understand your needs and determine if your request can be reasonably granted.
If your request is approved, the Accommodation Coordinator will collaborate with you to put the approved accommodations into effect. If your request is not approved, or is considered unreasonable, the Accommodation Coordinator will discuss alternative reasonable accommodation options with you, if applicable.
Step 4: Ongoing Support and Communication
Once your accommodations are in place, it is important to maintain communication with Disability Services regarding any ongoing accommodation-related needs. Should you encounter any challenges in implementing or accessing your approved accommodations, it is crucial to immediately inform the Accommodation Coordinator. This allows for prompt assistance in addressing and resolving the situation as needed.
Please be aware that accommodation requests are reviewed individually and on an ongoing basis. The time required for approval may have implications for scheduling, particularly for testing arrangements that require approved accommodations.
