The Garmin eLog device is engineered for easy installation and broad compatibility with semi-trucks. Unlike some ELDs that might use OBD2, the Garmin eLog is specifically designed to work with the heavy-duty diagnostic ports commonly found in commercial vehicles. It supports both 9-pin J1939 and 6-pin J1708 diagnostic ports, making it compatible with a wide range of semi-truck models right out of the box. Please note: Garmin eLog is not compatible with vehicles using the OBD2 protocol (SAE J1979), which is more commonly found in light-duty passenger vehicles. For Volvo Trucks with a Volvo engine using a 16-pin J1962 configuration, a 16-pin to 9-pin adapter cable (sold separately) will be required.
